Porter Plant Hire has formed strong associations with both Abigroup and Vic Roads both leaders in their industries. By joining forces with Abigroup Porter Plant is able construct and maintain gas mains in the Western Region of Victoria through their own subsiduary Porter Utilities. In 2001 Porter Plant was the successful bidder for the contract with Vic Roads to supply and maintain all plant and equipment in the State of Victoria for road maintenance.

In February 2000 Porter Excavations Pty Ltd and Abigroup Asset Services joined forces to deliver a company base, a fleet of vehicles and a group of trained staff to construct and maintain gas mains in the western region of Victoria. Porter Excavations Pty Ltd has continued to provide that base and the plant fleet through to the current day.
Abigroup is one of Australia’s leading and most diverse national contractors, with 50 years of experience delivering works in building, roads, rail, water, mining services, tunnels, bridges and telco & energy. To date it has successfully delivered some of the country’s largest and most important infrastructure and construction projects and is poised to continue this success into the future.

In 2001 Porter Excavations branched out further in the plant hire industry. The company had already enjoyed the contract with Abigroup Asset Services for 12 months, successfully supplying the Western Victoria Region with plant and equipment , however seized an opportunity to tender for a Vicroads contract.
The company was the successful bidder for the contract to supply and maintain all plant and equipment in the State of Victoria for road maintenance. Porter Plant fully implemented the contract within 7 months, purchasing and manufacturing over 200 items of plant and equipment. The company provides mechanical support 24 (twenty four) hours a day 7 (seven) days a week to minimise any down time. This contract brought with it further opportunities with local governments throughout Victoria, and today the company supplies plant and equipment to a growing number of government bodies.
